Was/Were

Formą czasu przeszłego czasownika to be (być) jest was lub were. Odmieniamy go inaczej od reszty czasowników w czasie Past Simple tj.

I was

you were

he was

she was

it was

we were

you were

they were

Zdania twierdzące:

She was in Japan in 1990.
We were in the cinema together.

Zdania przeczące:

Do tworzenia  przeczeń nie potrzebujemy operatora did. Tworzymy je przez dodanie not do was lub were np.

She was not in Japan in 1990.
(She wasn’t in Japan in 1990)
We were not in the cinema together.
(We weren’t in the cinema together)

Zdania pytające:

Do tworzenia pytań również nie potrzebujemy operatora did. Tworzymy je przez przestawienie szyku/kolejności (tzw.inwersja) pomiędzy osobą (I, you, he, she, it, we they), a czasownikiem (was, were) np.

Was she in Japan in 1990?
Were we in the cinema together?
